Delve into the rich history of the Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler has been a mainstay of our Vestal, NY dealership for quite some time now, but it's beloved not just for its extensive off-road credentials, but also its rich history that's closely tied to the history of our great nation.
You see, the earliest precursor of the Jeep Wrangler is the Willys MB, a four-wheel drive vehicle developed by Willys-Overland for the U.S. Military. That vehicle first saw action on the battlefields of WWII. However, while its premier successes were in the military theater, it quickly cultivated immense popularity and soon, Willys-Overland began developing a civilian model for use back here in the States.
That model became known as the Willys-Overland CJ-2A, and it was widely renowned not just as an off-road vehicle but a perfect model for agricultural and commercial applications, prized for its reliability, cost-effective maintenance, and unrelenting 4x4 capabilities. This model became the framework for a slew of improved iterations on the classic off-road vehicle, until it finally transitioned to the Jeep Wrangler nameplate in 1987, and the rest is history. The Jeep Wrangler has been impressing drivers all over America both off the road and on ever since. And with fresh trims and amenities being added to its equipment list year after year, it shows no signs of falling out of favor any time soon.
